Professor David Olawale Adeyemi is a distinguished scholar and accomplished academic with over two decades of teaching and research experience in Anatomy. He obtained his B.Sc. degree in Anatomy in 2003 from the University of Ilorin, and subsequently earned both his M.Sc. (2008) and PhD (2012) degrees in Anatomy from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. Professor Adeyemi is actively involved in teaching all aspects of Anatomy to undergraduate students in Medicine, Dentistry, Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy, Nursing and Human Nutrition & Dietetics. He also co-teaches postgraduate M.Sc. and PhD students in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology. His areas of specialization include Endocrine and Reproductive Anatomy, with extensive research focusing on experimental animal models of Type I and Type II diabetes mellitus. His studies have examined the effects of diabetes on the morphology of the endocrine pancreas, male reproductive system, liver, heart, and kidneys, as well as the therapeutic potentials of folkloric and ethnomedicinal natural products on these organs. He has an impressive scholarly record, and his publications in endocrine and reproductive anatomy have continued to inspire and motivate emerging scientists in Nigeria and beyond. Professor Adeyemi is a Fellow of the Anatomical Society of Nigeria and a member of the International Federation of Associations of Anatomists and the Society for Endocrinology. He has served Obafemi Awolowo University in several administrative and academic capacities, including as Representative of Congregation in Senate (2012–2016), Member of the Appointments and Promotions Committee (2015–2016), Vice-Dean, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences (2019–2021), Representative of Faculty in Senate (2012–2016)and Member of the Postgraduate College Board (2021–2023). He currently serves as the Dean, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
