Prof. Olugbenga Ayannuga is a Developmental Anatomist, Neurobiologist, Medical Educator and Health Law and Policy expert.  He is a medical graduate of Ogun State University before proceeding to the University of Ibadan where he had his masters and doctoral training in Anatomy with specialization in developmental anatomy and neurobiology. In addition, he obtained a master’s degree in Health law and policy from University of Medical Science, Ondo and a certificate in Health Professionals Education from SAFRI, South Africa.

Prof. Ayannuga research endeavor unraveled the timeline of cellular and structural derangement in animal models of hydrocephalus. He also established the direction of 3^rd ventricular enlargement in hydrocephalus providing the nexus between clinical manifestation and structural derangement in hydrocephalus using histological, immunohistochemical and electron microscopic tools. He had studied the pattern of cellular and structural derangements of other disease conditions such as epilepsy and environmental toxicity of the brain attempting to reverse the derangement using natural products such as kola, African walnut and date palm.

A recipient of Committee for Aid and Education in Neurochemistry grant and former Senior Visiting Researcher at the School of Anatomical Sciences, University of Witwatersrand, South Africa. Former Head, Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, Obafemi Awolowo University. He has contributed significantly to Anatomy education in Nigeria and beyond, mentoring several budding and established anatomists. A past president of the Anatomical Society of Nigeria and a fellow of the society.
